Celebrating Earth Day is a great way to keep your students conscious of the environment and instill in them the importance of caring for our earth. Earth Day falls on Tuesday April 22nd this year, so you’ve got plenty of time to plan a day filled with earth and environment events. Ask your students to draw pictures of the earth and list reasons why it’s important to keep the environment clean. Have students donate plants for a new garden on the school grounds, and have them help plant the garden. Emphasize recycling of drink containers and other recyclable items at lunch. Above all, make sure kids have fun! And what better way to do that than with The Lorax!
Dr. Seuss’ The Lorax is loved by kids everywhere for its eccentric world of Truffula Trees, Grickle Grass, and of course, the altruistic Lorax who speaks for the trees. Its message of conservation and environmental protection is easy for kids to pick up, and its one that they’ll carry with them for the rest of their lives. Our Dr. Seuss themed line of school supplies includes lots of fun Lorax items like Trufulla Tree pens and Lorax memo pads. Pair these items with a reading of The Lorax and a viewing of its famous animated adaptation, and your students are sure to have a great time. This Earth Day, celebrate with Raymond Geddes and The Lorax!
