What's in Store with Each Lesson?

Lessons are structured across five sections:

Making Connections
Gets the lesson rolling with questions, brainstorming, and group activities to help students see how the lesson covers concepts they already experience in their daily life.
Exploring and Learning
The heart of each lesson, covered step by step through the application of specific teaching strategies like guided practice, paired learning, cooperative learning, and more.
Extended Learning and Practice
Takes the concepts taught in the previous section and presents related activities where students can apply and practice everything they've learned.
Assessment
Lessons include a Student Assessment Worksheet for determining lesson retention and revealing areas that should be covered in more depth.
Closure
Students share what they've learned in the lesson and what they would like to learn more about.

Welcome to the Geddes library of school store lesson plans. Here you will find our collection of math-based lesson plans and teaching resources educators can use to extend student learning beyond the classroom and into the interactive environment of a school store.

Each lesson is tailored to a specific learning activity appropriate for 3rd to 5th grade level mathematics. Teachers are guided through lesson materials that have been modeled around established curriculum standards of the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics (NCTM), as well as employing learning methodologies outlined in Bloom's Taxonomy of Educational Objectives.
