Raymond Geddes and Company, Inc. is proud to be a Company That Cares! Our Company That Cares initiative is a commitment in actively participating and giving back to the people and communities where we live and work.
Here is a glimpse of a few of our ongoing and upcoming endeavors:
SPCA March for the Animals
Geddes is a pet-friendly work environment. We have Max running the halls, with Smokey and Buddy sort of reminding us what sleep looks like. Occasionally, other folks at Geddes bring by their dogs and cats for office visits as well.
Each year, GEDDES participates in the March for the Animals. March for the Animals is a fun 1.5 mile people and pets walk-a-thon benefitting the SPCA and educating the community on animal issues.
The NEA's Read Across America
The National Education Association holds a nationwide celebration called Read Across America each March, coinciding with the birthday of Dr. Seuss. The events shine a light on the importance of developing strong reading skills from an early age. GEDDES is proud to have taken part in NEA Read Across America events at area elementary schools going back to 2006.
GEDDES teams go into the schools every March, with each team visiting a Baltimore area elementary school for the big event. We start things off with a reading of that Dr. Seuss favorite, The Cat in the Hat. Then we lead the students in two Dr. Seuss related games to help them get energized about reading.
A big thank you to all of the schools who have welcomed us into their classrooms and another big thank you to all of the students who make each year's events so much fun.
Believe in Tomorrow National Children's Foundation
Raymond Geddes is an official corporate sponsor the Annual Port to Fort Race, a local event benefiting the Believe in Tomorrow National Children's Foundation. Believe in Tomorrow is dedicated to improving the quality of life for critically ill children by providing pediatric support services that help to ease pain, reduce loneliness and bring joy to children throughout their treatment process.
Each April, we join more than 1200 runners and walkers for the Port to Fort 6K Race in downtown Baltimore, MD. Team GEDDES has taken the top spot in the Corporate Team Challenge, raising the most funds for the third year in a row.
Take Your Child to Work Day
Raymond Geddes is proud to participate with Take Your Child to Work Day each year. The goal of Take Your Child to Work Day is to expose children between the ages of 6 and 14 to the world of work.
Take Your Child to Work Day is a big hit with our staff's children. Kids visiting the GEDDES offices on TYCTWD enjoy learning about the different professions and the roles they play at GEDDES — doing arts and crafts projects with our Art Department, working on an inventory project with our Product Management team, learning about how products are developed and designed with Product Development, participating in a marketing focus group with the Marketing team, and tons more!
Salvation Army
As the holiday season approaches, GEDDES gets involved with the Salvation Army, making donations of food, toys, and school supplies to our local Salvation Army and taking part in the Salvation Army Adopt-a-Family program.
The Salvation Army is a worldwide organization committed to serving people, changing one life at a time. Learn more about volunteering locally with the Salvation Army or visit VolunteerMatch.org for volunteer opportunities in your area.
Race for the Cure
Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation
Joining in the fight against breast cancer, GEDDES is proud to participate in the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation Race for the Cure. Raymond Geddes employees participate in the Maryland Race for the Cure 5K Run/Walk held in downtown Baltimore, raising more than $4300 to help fund the fight against breast cancer.
Find a race in your town and learn how to join the Race for the Cure.
International Student and School Aid
Raymond Geddes wants to make writing fun for kids all over the world, not just in the USA. We provide school supplies to disadvantaged school children in China, Haiti, and most recently, Iraq.
