School Store Reopens Under Student Management

Students at Winnacunnet High School in Hampton, New Hampshire, are reopening their school store, which had been closed for the past two years. What’s more, the students are opening it and running it themselves.

Students in the “Micro-Business Enterprise” class are reopening the store as part of the class’ curriculum. The store was previously run by an outside vendor for four years until it closed in 2011. Business teachers Janice Arsenault and Cindy Fagan thought reopening the store under student management would be a great way for kids to learn the ins and outs of running a small business. Students have to do the proper small business paperwork as well as do market research to determine what kind of products are in demand. School spirit themed clothing topped the list. The students run the store four days a week, and are even opening on an upcoming Saturday to allow parents to shop for holiday gifts for their kids. For more information, check out this link!
